ABOUT THE SHOW:  Judy Canova as herself, a pigtails-and-calico bumpkin, who had come to Hollywood from "Rancho Canova" in "Cactus Junction.''Judy Canova was a Jacksonville native who aspired to a serious career in music. But early in her career she was typed as a hillbilly. hog- caller, and hayseed, a female answer to Bob Burns, and she never shook it off. In the early 1930s she was billed with her sister Annie and her brother Zeke as the Three Canovas. Rudy Vallee caught the act, and in 1933 she appeared on his Fleischmann Hour. She was a regular on Paul Whiteman's Musical Varieties of 1937 and on Edgar Bergen' s Chase and Sanborn Hour in the fall of 1938.
