Jean Shepherd passed away on October 16th, 1999. He was 78.

ABOUT THE SHOW: Jean Shepherd, writer, humorist, satirist, actor, radio raconteur, TV  & film personality and an American original. He was a master story teller in  the league of Mark Twain, S.J. Perlman and P.G. Wodehouse. A Broadcast Disc Jokey who took humor to new level. A Modern Will Rogers.Shep was on the radio for over 30 years. Although he was involved with writing books, movies, and countless magazine stories, this is the medium from which many of his fans remember  him.  Most notably for the WOR New York Years.
