Never as famous as Gunsmoke (also produced by Norman Macdonnell), but a quality western drama all the same. Macdonnel described it as "a monument to ordinary men who lived in extraordinary times ... their enemies were the cold, rugged, unchartered country, the heat, the cold, disease, boredom, and, perhaps last of all, hostile Indians".
