"Crime Classics" is a show that was unusual for it's time. It had a narrator who introduces true life cases and criminals and makes the occasional comment thought out the program. The narrator was Thomas Hyland played to perfection by Lou Merrill who's clipped monotone delivery sounded more like a news reporter, introducing himself as "a connoisseur of crime" as he calmly describes the case. Another unusual thing about this show is that unlike most other shows where only the lead actor and actors with reoccurring charterers were used over and over, "Crime Classics" used several actors many times on different episodes in different roles. Mary Jane CroftMary Jane Croft, Herb Butterfield and Ben Wright, all seasoned radio actors , played in several shows, sometimes using different accents and voices to make the crime come to life. It ran from late 1952 until 1954 on CBS.
