After the success of the seires of Thin Man movies in the 30's and 40's, a radio version of the popular couple was almost a given. The sophisticated pair were a breath of fresh air after the depression and the repeal of prohibition. America was rebuilding and the extravagant and exciting lifestyle of Nick and Nora gave a weary nation hope for the future. The witty banter between Nick and Nora is priceless and with a martini in one hand and a gun
in the other, the pair solved crimes that had the police stumped. The radio shows that were sometimes written by Dashiell Hammett, the creator of the characters, made people almost feel they were a part of the action. Extraordinary writing and a talented cast make this program a welcome listening escape. C.M. |
